I'm a Grandma!

I just had to share with the everyone the joy I feel on becoming a grandma! My family welcomed London Patrick O'Connor into the world on March 3 at 6:20 pm. He is so adorable (grandma says)! I was lucky enough to be in the delivery room and witness the birth of my first grandchild. He and my daughter are doing wonderfully and we are so lucky to have little London in our family.

A New Year!!

Well, the Holiday Market and holidays are over and just a memory now. Sales were good at the market despite the economy. Now it's time to look forward into the new year and make plans for the upcoming selling venues....Etsy, Saturday Market, the Holiday Market and more.

Although I rarely follow through with my new year's resolutions, I continue to make them anyway. Most I will keep to myself, but the most important one for me this year is to simplify my life. I've got this idea that if I unclutter my life....business and personal, then everything will fall into place and I won't feel like I am constantly running on that hampster wheel of life. To achieve that goal, I will focus on the aspects of my business and personal life that perform and seem to accomplish steps forward and not backwards.

I plan to post more on here, facebook, flickr and finish my website (in progress for a year). Also, work on marketing my Etsy shops better. Well, now that I've thrown it out there...we'll see how I do, hehe.

Eugene Holiday Market

How do you fit three product lines into a 6x8 space? Using the walls, of course! Here are a few pictures of my booth space at the Eugene Oregon Holiday Market. Included in my booth are my fused glass pieces along the right side and my upcycled wrist belts, also on the right side. Along the left wall are my polar fleece hats. So far my display is working pretty well for me. I've had two good weekends with two more to go. If you are in Eugene, stop by and say "hi". I'm in space #46 until the weekend before Christmas. Mixing It Up!!

Somehow it is difficult to have two shops and keep them completely separate. Probably because your likes and dislikes merge with your creative juices and end up flowing down the same creative stream. Anyway, I have started combining my fused glass (psodesign) and my recycled wrist cuffs (dinglewear). It seems like a natural marriage and I am really happy with the results.

Where Has the Time Gone?

Wow...it's been a while since I've posted. Summer seems to be slipping by. I've been busy with work, the Eugene Saturday Market and the many summer activities and yard work. What a wonderful surprise! My popsicle pendant landed on the front page tonight. (Top middle) The views on the pendant flew up to over 500...wow. I guess that was my 15 minutes of fame :)

200 Etsy Sales!!

Yay!!! I hit my 200th sale on Etsy today. Another goal accomplished...now for the next. It seemed like I was stuck on 199 forever even though it was only a day or so, lol. I was just so anxious.

Eugene Saturday Market starts this weekend, too! I'm really excited to get back into the swing. Of course, I also went back to work full-time this week, so everything is happening at once. Now if I could add a couple of hours in the day.... At least it is now light until 8:00 pm so I'll feel more energetic in the evenings.

I have some interesting ideas rattling in my head...so stay tuned...

Better get busy :)

Get Inspired!

My newest line of copper bracelets are meant to inspire. I have combined my hand formed copper bracelet with an inspirational bead and swarovski crystals. Included will be love, hope, dream, peace, pray and more.

I have some new ideas and have been gearing up towards the upcoming selling season. Saturday Market here in Eugene, Oregon begins the first weekend of April. I also have a 2 week consignment show in April that I need a large inventory for. Okay...back to work.

Gallery Exhibit at Eugene Airport

I was so thrilled to be be included in a gallery exhibit at my local airport. The theme for the exhibit is "Reclaim, Recycle & Reuse" which also includes using items from nature. So I was asked to submit a few pieces of my rock jewelry. I am so happy with the response of my river rock jewelry and enjoy making them. Infact, I am planning an outing to collect new rocks and treasures along the river this week (weather permitting).

I don't know if anything will come from the gallery, but it's fun to get your creations noticed and hopefully I'll get some new visitors to my shops.

New - Petal Collection!!

I just started listing a new collection in my shop....perfect for spring. The pendants are transparent and colorful. Some are wrapped in sterling silver and some in copper. Some will be oxidized and some bright and shiny. Like petals of a flower, these pendants will be similar but different. I have added swarovski crystals to most and swirls on some. Wow...does time fly! It has been nearly 3 months since I posted here, but it is now time....to get back into the swing of things. I am currently laid off from my job, but no worries :) things are going fine. I now have time to create and list more items. Besides my glass shop, I also have another etsy shop at http://dinglewear.etsy.com and an Ebay shop. Definitely more than enough to keep me busy. Check out my Dinglewear Etsy Mini at the bottom of this page.

Let me share with you some of my items in my dinglewear shop. I have always been a thrifty person. I love vintage and love the hunt for interesting finds. So, in my shop you will find wrist cuffs made from upcycled leather belts, necklaces made from game pieces, purses made from sweaters or mens wool jackets...and much more. I even got my 15 year old son in the act to make some of the wrist cuffs. And, believe me when he made his first sale, he was ready to make more. It's very exciting to see him interested in creating. Of course, the money is the motivator :)

I have been a very bad girl and haven't posted for a month. Wow, where does the time go? This is that time of year when there is too much going on. I have been doing shows almost every weekend (along with my regular job) and have my big shows coming up starting Thanksgiving weekend....fun!

Wow...can't believe how long it's been since I wrote :( Since my last post, I have been doing Saturday Market every weekend (along with my regular job) so I've been busy. The market has gone well for me and I'm planning on doing it again next year. For now, I am done for the year and planning ahead for my upcoming shows....which start in a couple weeks. Below is a list of shows that I'm participating in. I enjoy doing a combination of consignment and booth shows. If you're around the Eugene or Corvallis, Oregon area, stop by and say "hi".

Also, my pond is still in progress :( I did manage to get it running and put plants and baby fish in it. Unfortunately, I'm losing water somewhere when I have the pump running, so I'm working on fixing it. I think I know what is happening, but need to have a dry day (when I'm actually home) to work on it. Crossing my fingers that Saturday will work....

I started doing more wire wrapping on my pendants and am happy with how they are turning out. I just broke down and bought a wire wrapping book that was recommended to me. So, keep an eye out for more decorative and detailed wrapping.

My First Weekend at Saturday Market

Well, I finally took the plunge into the Saturday Market and just loved it. I will probably try to do it a couple more times before the season is over. My display is in progress and changes need to be made. This weekend I was going for an ethnic look, but the background cloth was too busy. Next time, I will tone down the background with a more neutral color. Since newbies only get 4x4's, space is limited. So, I will work on building upward so the table is less busy. I do really like the easy set up of a smaller space, though.

I have always resisted doing outdoor venues because of the unpredictability of the weather here in Oregon. The last show I did in June rained all day...very miserable! One of the reasons that I went ahead and did it is because I want to do a couple of the market's indoor holiday shows. And, since I needed to pay the membership fee anyway, I decided what the heck. Once you pay for the membership, the cost each Saturday is really pretty minimal....yay!

Doing the Wire Wrapping Thing!

Recently I started wire wrapping my pendants. I really like not having to deal with glue on bails and, of course, I love playing with wire. Glass and wire has always seemed like a natural combination. I have been using both sterling silver and copper wire and love the look of both. Will be playing around with more decorative designs as time allows. For now, here are a few of my newer pendants.

My Pond in Progress

Okay....I've decided to make my project public, so I will feel compelled to finish it. The first summer I owned my house, I stumbled onto this cement pond. The grass had turned brown around the edge of the pond. The previous owners had pushed all the rocks into it and filled it with dirt. Probably just so they didn't have to deal with it anymore. Anyway, I was so excited when I found it. That was a few years ago. Things have kept me from working on it since then, but this is it. Last summer I patched the cracks in the cement, but it didn't hold water.

So, now I'm ready to try again with black plastic. I've bought everything that I need, so I'm ready....no excuses. I've moved those rocks around so many times, my back hurts just thinking about it. But, this will be the last time. Eventually, I will have gold fish in that pond...mark my words, lol.

My First EGA Sale a Success!

I am very happy with my sales during my first organized sale since becoming a member of the Etsy Glass Artists Street Team. I sold 26 items during the one week sale and am hoping that the momentum will continue. I am working on new items today and will be coming up with new designs this week. I started playing around with soldering and, to be honest, it's not as easy as it looks, lol. But, I'm hoping to start listing some finished items next week or so. All Wired Up!

I've been taking my obsession for copper wire and glass to the next level these days. I started doing more free-formed wire work with dichroic accents. I love the looks of metal and glass together, so expect more wire work from me in the future. Some day my obsession will probably take me into enameling, since I'm drawn to the spiraling of color on enameled items. But, for now I'm happing with how things are progessing. I'm hoping to start soldering pieces together as soon as I can figure out how to match the color of the joint. If anyone has suggestions on soldering copper, I'd love any input. And, I'd love to know what you all think of my new creations.

Having Fun with Glass and Copper

Just like usual, my creative juices started flowing and I've gone in another direction. I have always loved playing with copper, even before I started fusing glass. So it has been a natural combination for me to incorporate my copper and glass together since the beginning. When I started working with my dremel on the rocks, I also started playing with drilling holes in my glass. And, to tell you the truth, it is easier to drill a rock than glass. Probably because glass is less porous and more breakable.

Anyway, here are some of the new designs that I have been working on. I love the look of the copper wire (especially multiples) on the glass. And, I love the way that each one is completely different.

So Cool! Look...My Rock Slide Collection!

I am so happy with the way these are turning out. I am having so much fun playing with rocks! Here are a couple of examples. I added a dichroic gem to the one on the left and started making some etched rocks (paw prints, right) and I'm thinking I'll play around with more designs...maybe some lettering. Wouldn't that be cool to have a rock initial pendant? Looks like I'll be trying one this weekend.

I also put the paw print pendants in my "Support Shelter Animal" section in my Etsy shop. That way a portion of the proceeds ($3 from each pendant) will be donated to my local shelter, Greenhill Humane Society. Hopefully I'll sell lots so I can donate major dollars to the shelter. They are in the process of turning my city (Eugene, Oregon) into a no-kill city. Isn't that great! It does take a lot more money to keep the animals longer in the shelters, though, so the community needs to pitch in and help. I'm just trying to do my part. Afterall, I did adopt Riley, Josh and Cici from Greenhill and they are all awesome furry kids.

Watch Out! Playing with Rocks!

I am having a lot of fun these days playing with river rocks collected along the McKensie River in Oregon. I just love the way these pendants are turning out. Here are a couple of the first ones I've made. This week I will be working on beautiful glass accents to inlay on the rocks. I really enjoy mixing elements of nature and the marriage of the rock and glass is so natural to my style. Check back to see what I create.

Well, I thought i'd try my hand at making a fused glass ACEO....here it is and it's beautiful. But with one problem, it's slightly too small...darn, I forgot to start a bit larger to allow for trimming. I think it turned out wonderfully and I love the looks of the hand formed and hammered copper stand. So, I will try another tonight. These are going to be fun....like miniature pieces of art.

My Button Series

I decided to combine my love for sewing and my love for glass and am planning to design a series of fused glass buttons and toggles. So far I have finished two sets and have them listed in my Etsy store. I'm really happy with the way they've turned out and plan on doing a variety of colors and shapes. I just had to share these pictures with you! I finally took some pictures that I'm happy with. I don't know why it took me so long to figure out that the best way is natural light plus my light tent. I tried sooooo many ways to take pictures...from natural light outside (too much glare), natural light inside (shadows and glare), light tent inside with special lighting (wrong color) and more. It has been the most frustrating part of trying to market my items. It also didn't help that it has been winter and the natural light hasn't been available. Take a look at these! Now, I will need to update ALL my pictures, ugh....but, It'll be worth it.

Summer is coming!

In preparation for summer, I have been cleaning my flowerbeds and yard and have started planting new flowers. I have gotten my garden area ready for planting and will soon be planting the veggies. I just love freshly picked veggies! I am also started to get together my hanging baskets and putting out my windchimes and garden art. I thought I would share one with you. This windchime is gorgeous and has a very nice tinkling sound. I have many different wind chimes in my Etsy Store made of fused glass and copper. Come check them out.

I also wanted to share my wine glass charms. I am very excited about offering these fun, funky accessories for your summer entertaining. These are so fun to make. Each one is different, which is what you want with glass charms, of course. They are definitely one of a kind and a conversation piece.

Upcoming Show

I'm busily getting ready for Courtney Creek, which is a spring show I'm doing. It is such a wonderful location in a one-room schoolhouse in the middle of no where. The owner of the show, Kim, does such a wonderful job setting the moods in the different areas of the "store". There is everything from handcrafted garden decor, quilts, jewelry, delicious food and samples, to antiques ready to buy and take home. When you first drive up to the show, you wonder how anyone could ever find this place, but as soon as the door opens for business, in rolls the crowd. Kim has created quite a reputation and following to this twice a year show. Some customers come back multiple times just to see what new creations have been delivered.

This year the spring show runs from April 27 to May 12. So, if you're in Oregon around Brownsville during these dates, don't forget to stop by the Courtney Creek Schoolhouse (on Courtney Creek Road) to see what treasures you can take home with you.

New Member of Etsy Glass Artist Street Team!

I am so excited about being excepted in this wonderful group of artists. To me it is a validation that I am an artist...and excepted by my peers. Being a glass artist, I am obsessed with glass in every form, not only the fused glass that I am currently doing. I love every form of glass artistry, so admire the different artists involved in this street team.

I will be working on adding the EGA logo to my listings and becoming up-t0-date on the EGA forum and past posts. This is such a wonderful step in my Etsy adventure.

My "other" Etsy Shop

Just thought I'd introduce my other shop. Actually, it was my original Etsy shop. Check it out at www.dinglewear.etsy.com. I started dinglewear many years ago, making polar fleece hats and accessories to sell at holiday bazaars and shows. It has been a very good side business for me for many years, but this year I discovered the world of glass. So, the fabric has taken a back seat lately. I will still continue sewing, since it is still an interest of mine, but not to the extent that I have in the past. So, I am starting to work on destashing my fabric room. Yes, I actually have an added room in my garage devoted to fabric and notions. I will be listing many of the things that I don't feel I will use, so check out the bargains. I have already listed some scrabble tiles, wide eyelet trim, ribbon and wooden buttons....much more to come. I worked at Fabricland and Joann Fabrics for many years, so have lots...to say the least, hehe.

And, while you're there, check out the polar fleece hats and accessories. I will be introducing new spring and summer items as time allows. I'm think cotton and lacy little girl items would be fun.

So far I have to garden art designs and a few windchimes to choose from. I have a few more in the process and should be listing more this weekend. No piece is ever the same. The windchimes are especially unique, because I enjoy using repurposed items, like napkin rings, plates, and metal finds. Tonight I will be working on some windchimes that will include ornate tin napkin rings that I flattened out and thought would look awesome hanging along with the glass and copper. Good Etsy Weekend!

I finally had a good selling day on Etsy. Yesterday I sold 5 items, hooray.....some wind chimes, a wall hanging and 3 pairs of earrings. I'm feeling pretty positive right now. One of the pairs of earrings was a new style of glass earrings that I just listed yesterday. So, I'm anxious to get some more put together and listed. They are unique glass and copper earrings....my own design. Another goal for the week is to get some copper pipe and glass yard art made before the weekend. I think this is the perfect time to get some listed. I will update the trellis picture below when I get a new one together. I'm also working on some more colorful glass wind chimes, so let me know what you think.

The Eugene Etsy Street Team met again on Sunday. I am getting really exicted about networking and increasing the traffice to our stores. We have so many talented Eugene people! Hopefully, we'll be able to put together a show of our own or participate in a show this spring.

TGIF...I'm so ready

Suppose to be raining all weekend, but that's okay...lot of indoor things to do. We have some beautiful spring flowers popping up here in Oregon. I just love the new colors of spring after a dismal winter. Definitely makes it easier to live with the rain.I need to work on my picture taking ability over the weekend. I know now why I never became a photographer. I am definitely not good at it, hehe. I have really struggled with the lighting, so I bought myself a light box....thought that would solve all my problems. Nope, now I'm dealing with yellow tint in my pictures. I am hoping to solve at least the yellow glow this weekend, so I can get some decent pictures of my products.You can see the aweful yellow tone in my new pictures in my Etsy store (which I will be changing out asap). If anyone has any photo suggestions, I'm always happy to hear them...believe me, I can use any help.

Well, I'm taking the plunge into the world of blogging. This is all new to me, so bare with me while I develop my site. I will be adding sample pictures of my work. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. And, if you're a member of the Eugene Etsy Team, I would be happy to add you to my links on the bottom of the page.

As time allows, I will be working on more wind chimes and copper garden art. I included some pictures of copper trellis' that I made last summer. This year, I will be making a similar version, but on a smaller scale. I will be incorporating my abstract fused glass and also some with wind chimes. So, check back to see what I come up with.
